Sensory-friendly Worship Nights

In the fall of 2022, Rising Above began hosting quarterly sensory-friendly worship nights for our friends with special needs and their families. We wanted to create a space for our families to build community and worship with others who are on this similar journey.

Our worship nights include traditional worship music, a kid-focused worship songs with motions, a message for our friends with special needs, and a message for parents and caregivers.

We have seen our friends with special needs light up when they know this evening is build just for them. We have several families who haven’t been able to attend a traditional church in many years due to the behaviors of their children. One mom shared her thoughts with us below.

“Our son is non-verbal but very vocal. His noises are often distracting in a typical church setting. But, at the Rising Above worship night, his noises aren’t a distraction. They are an expression of his worship. What a blessing these nights have been to our family.”
