A Message to our Donors:
The special needs community is experiencing unparalleled challenges in the face of COVID-19. Many of our kids are high-risk, and many of the supports our families depend on are not currently available. Our community is longing for hope and encouragement more than ever.
That is why we were disappointed to have to cancel some of our most beloved events, including the Easter Eggstravaganza which was our first community outreach so many years ago. Even in the face of disappointment you can be sure of this, special needs families are nothing if not adaptive! We know how to find the good in the toughest of situations.
Thanks to modern technology we have been able to create ways to support and encourage our families through online studies, virtual support groups, and virtual activities. This global crisis has become a blessing because people from around the world are discovering Rising Above.
A few weeks ago, I had a remarkable experience! And it’s all because of you...
A couple who leads a special needs ministry in Beirut, Lebanon were praying for God to provide them with much needed resources and support. Lebanon is in deep crisis and under profound economic distress. This family has so little, but they turned to God in faith and asked!
In an answer to their prayers, God led them to Rising Above. I was able to have a virtual meeting with this mother during which she poured out her heart. She shared her hopes and fears as well as her needs.
Because of the kindness of donors like you, we were able to send resources and support. Now this mother is translating the Rising Above curriculum into Arabic. That means families in Arabic speaking countries will hear the truth of God's love for them and their child with special needs. Arabic is one of the five most spoken languages in the world. We thank you for making this possible!
We are planning to take our By the Brook retreat to moms around the world for FREE, virtually. It is because of your prayers that Rising Above is coming up with new and creative ways to meet the unique needs of special needs families during this season of uncertainty. Look what God is doing because of you. We are beyond grateful!
